Installation

This section covers the installation procedure for the TIM SSE for Qlik Sense.

Requirements

To run the Python SSE, the following requirements apply:

Installation process

The installation process of the TIM SSE for Qlik Sense is the following:

Install the Python SSE

  1. Download this ZIP file containing the SSE installer.

  2. Unzip it by opening the command prompt (search the Start Menu for "command") and executing the following command: unzip tim-qlik-see.zip.

  3. Change directory to the unzipped installer by executing the following command: cd tim-qlik-sse/.

  4. Run the installation bash script by executing the following command: ./run_sse.sh -l "<TIM-LICENSE-KEY>" -u "<EMAIL>" -k "<PASSWORD>" -p 50053. Replace the placeholders <TIM-LICENSE-KEY>, <EMAIL> and <PASSWORD> with your license key, email and password respectively. Optionally, you can change the port by replacing 50053 with the desired value.

Add the analytic connection to Qlik

  1. Navigate to Qlik Management Portal > Analytic connections. image.png

  2. Click Create new to create a new connection. image.png

  3. Fill out the form:

    • Name: TimClient
    • Host: localhost (or the IP address of the machine the SSE is installed on, if it is installed on another machine than the Qlik Sense server)
    • Port: 50053 (or the port specified in step 4 of installing the SSE)
    • Certificate path: (empty)
    • Reconnect timeout: 20
    • Request timeout: 0 image.png
  4. Click Apply to carry the changes through. image.png

Now it is possible to call the SSE’s functions like this: TIMClient.functionXY(…).

Additional information

To check if the SSE is running (your working directory must be set to tim-qlik-sse/), run the following command: docker-compose ps.

To see logs of the running SSE (again, your working directory must be set to tim-qlik-sse/), run the following command: docker-compose logs -f.

To stop and uninstall the TIM SSE (again, your working directory must be set to tim-qlik-sse/), run the following command: ./run_sse.sh -x and when prompted confirm by typing Y and pressing enter.

Source code

It is also possible to install the Qlik integration via the Python source code, instead of the docker image. This might be of interest if you want to customize the integration. If you wish to do so, please contact us at support@tangent.works.
